In the setup of the plugin you turn on dial linking.
What it does is the following:
If you have an animated texture in Poser (animated option, so it appears as dial), it will be available as variable in floating point values and in greyscale color (0-1 inputs). In the properties of that node you can find the option "control from dial". Select the dial there

Be aware though that turning on can make the plugin UI quite slow.

Yes, you make that opacity dial animated (press key icon left of the value in poser mat room.
That material will now a appear in the prop or figure. This dial can be used in the plugin if the dial option has been set.
In the material itself in the plugin, look at the properties of the opacity, it can now be set to be driven by dial.
Plugin reads the value again each frame, so if the value changes, it will change the value for that in octane (in your case opacity).

Paul has implented that some time ago and I have used to render particles 3+ materials in octane. Those particles change their opacity depending on their age.

No idea when it was introduced. I was in v2 of the plugin
