I have just downloaded the demo and first off, IT IS AWESOME! however, it does hurt a bit to find out after 5 minutes that i'm actually losing 112 cores when using octane render. not too shabby running at 70% capacity but still...
the closest answer i could get from googling was this anandtech review: http://www.anandtech.com/show/3809/nvid ... 200-king/2 which talked about the GF104 having 3 blocks of CUDA cores instead of 2 (GF100 architecture). this weird arrangement means that since they still use 2 warp schedulers (whatever that means), the third block will only be on standby and is only used when processing exceeds 224 cores. and they use something called superscalar execution (that sounds real cool but really unhelpful to lay students like me).
this seems to point out that since octane uses only 224 cores, some coding might be required to fully utilize the remaining 112?
well this is as far as i can understand. anyone else with the same problem? i do hope that this would be solved as soon as possible. uni's starting soon.

also, octane rocks, period!
