I really can't understood that there is a discussion here- If anyone has not the features that was advertized for V1 you can do
by Law what you want. Till that time , just wait and see what comes next. The names are not relevant for what is build in.
Makes me angry!!!
Radiance makes a great Job here, so wait what comes nex,t before asking

If you take a look at games industry, lately they have been releasing betas as finished games, throwing patches even the day after the release and truly having an stable (1.0?) game a couple of months later with almost no complaining from the customers. So in that aspect I think that Refractive has been really "shy" with octane, as [gk] stated, it has been more than a simple beta for a long time and in my case I've used it to great satisfaction, mine and of my clients.

I think that once all basics features will be included (mainly emitting materials), the "beta" name can be removed. It is better for business.

Anyway, I know no real "Final" versions of softwares. Most of the softwares I use require patches all along their lifes. I know some expensive softwares in so called "stable versions" that even pulled very bad bugs for years that have never been solved!

For the user, the actually important thing is the content of the box, not the name on the package, and Octane has much to offer inside the box, and will have more in the future I'm sure !

Well. That sounds fine by me. Though, I'm curious, what would the upgrade pricing be like for 2.x onwards?

Looking forward to trying out beta 2.3. :D
