Hello.

3dsmax 2015, octane 3, nvidia drivers 372.9;
PC i7 5960x, asus x99 e-ws, 64 gb ram, 2x 980 ti (asus gold edition);

I would worry about the 3gb vram instead of 2,5gb missing.
0,5/3.0 means that the scene is using 0,5 gb of the 3 gb that is maximum available.
If you really have 2 cards with each 6gb vram... It should be 0,5/6,0 (when having a scene loaded that is 0,5 gb large)
Are you using windows 10? (It is a known issue that w10 eats a lot of vram, but I cannot imagine half of 6 gb)
Cheers,

Yes, thought that would not be the problem.LumaFX wrote:Windows 8.1 =)
But then?
I have googled a bit and found more issues about 989ti showing 3gb instead of 6 gb... But you what is the issue in your case?
And you are sure ofcourse of having 2 gpu's with 6gb vram and nothing else or another third gpu with 3gb, right?
Anyway... I also found this strange thing, but it might help you if it did help others:
"Yes I do, the issue is when the cards are in SLI they report only 3GB instead of 6GB. With SLI disatble the memory is reported just right: 6GB"
If you have sli enabled then disable it (it is anyway better to disable sli for OctaneRender).
Edited/added: and what does gpu-z or nvidia system info says about vram?

Glad I could help... strange you do not get the full 6. That could be expected with windows 10, but not with windows 8.1.LumaFX wrote:hello. Thank you!
i disabled the SLI-Bridge. GPU Memory number had increased to 4,8 GB =)
but still not the full 6 gigabytes. =)))
Can you try and disable the first gpu in OctaneRender settings to see if you get the same number, and then try the same with only having enabled the other gpu... That way you can determine if is only one that minors your capacity by some kind of error in just one card?

rappet is right
if you want to utilize full 6GB on your card you cannot use it to handle monitors - so disable 1st gpu in octane (make sure this is the one that handles monitors) and enable for rendering only the 2nd gpu. Surely you lose speed but have more vram.
