Its stated in Radiance's first post.
Basically, nothing changes for customers, don't be alarmed, you will all get what you were promised with the beta program, just the names/versions change.

so the answer is: NOT in 1.0, but in future 1.x releases. That's what I'm saying it's a little bit more than a cosmetic nomenclature thing

You have to understand that 1.0 have to go out of the door so as mentioned, the beta tag can go away.
Internally that changes nothing. As a debug periode including all the ** tags from the feature list will be included in the same timespan as before name change.
you can see the headline of the topic, 2.3 is already past 1.0 as its states 1.1.
Its just naming, it doesnt do anything to you as a costumer.

All will be in a 1.0 final, not before.

It doesnt mean that you will get the complete feature list later than you would have gotten if the naming of the builds was kept as it is.
hope that helps

But it means we have to pay sooner for the 2.x upgrade

No...the time lines are exactly the same, there will be more 1.X releases after the 1.0 final than there would have been. The amount of time between the old 1.0 and the new 1.X and V2 is exactly the same.

So will you give us a quick notice before the price changing occurs, at least here in the registered users part of the forum so we can decide to buy another license before that, (or a quick 50% discount would be nice). I really don't need another license right now since I only have one fully equipped computer but would be a nice future investment..
since there is no way I'm using anything apart octane for hi quality renders.. tried maxwell, fryrender arion is almost identical to fry and vray is as slow as any cpu renderer really, not even close to octane.. just give us the materials lights and that's it
Even the plugin for c4d is just so simple and easy to use, materials are simple to setup and the workflow is the smoothest one.
anyhow how about it

There will be adequate notice before the V 1.0 final and the price increase occurs. It will not be a surprise.

About time too!

Beta doesnt sells well.
I have never understood what rules apply that qualifies a tool as beta or final.
There are companys who sell their products as final, even thought they bring out service packs/hotfixes just a few weeks later.

200,- is still a fair price for what you can do with Octane already by now.
Maybe there will be a chance to offer different versions, one for privat hobbyists and one for commercial use, but with different price tags?

"how long is a string" ?
There are no rules, it is subjected to developer and their tools completly to define when a product goes from alpha to beta to final and so forth.
So if you are looking for continuity cross programs you wont ever find it.

Id think the Demo is sufficient for hobby activists no?

I have personally made both stills and animation made with the demo suite and sold them to clients even before first line of code was written for the exporter plugins.
So on that account the demo suites well above a functionality a hobby user would neeed.

Unless a hobby user wants everything for nothing ofcourse
