Hi,
This is a tricky topic to try and describe. Ill post some grabs if its not making sense.
Ok, i have Rhino setup in HD for render output (1920 x 1080) I also have a script that grabs my view at the same res. This all works fine and allows me to comp outlines over a simple rendering.
The issue I have is dragging the view port about (resizing left to right , causes Octane to zoom in and out, this does not match the behaviour of the rhino render which seem to work on a centre out principle for the resolution. To be honest this method (Rhino, excluding Octane on this point) is hit and miss regards composition but as a way of working fast and communicating concepts (in rhino only) it works. My Preferred method would be to use the safe frame to give the exact composition (as i do in 3ds max) unfortunately (and this is another issue) the safe frames in rhino seem to be pretty random in their behaviour - I’ve raised this with Mcneel already and they are aware. As mentioned in a previous post, setting the aspect of a floating window does correctly match up though often I find floating widows in rhino quite awkward. Ideally the safe frame would scale correctly to the window, (as in 3ds max) again this is a Rhino issue.
Is it possible for the behaviour of Octane to match the way rhino works with regards the fixed position? - hope that makes sense!?
Cheers
Will.

Which version of the plugin are you using pls?
Have you tried using the Resolution Lock button in the plugin and set the resolution manually via the Setup tree nodes?

Your settings look right. Can you post a screenshot showing the camera difference between Octane and Rhino pls?

Hi Paul, Attached.
Ive also attached my simple outline mode. in response to my other post. All done at 1920 x 1080. if i pull the window wide than aspect this will probably render ok. im unsure if this is partly a rhino issue as i mentioned previously. Thoughts really appreciated on this.

The plugin should correctly interpret the Rhino safe frame. However I'm not sure what you mean by the terms "when the frame is pulled in" and "if i pull the window wide". If you provide a sample scene where the sync between Octane and Rhino is out, I can take a closer look.
Regarding the outline mode, check out http://poserphysics.blogspot.com.au/201 ... ctane.html

Hi Paul,
The first sample were from a rhino view port that wasn't the same aspect as the render setup. You can drag the left and right hand side of any window to change the aspect, ive attached a few grabs and notes.
The latter was set to the right aspect, or rather the view port size contained the full safe frame, clipping of left and right (via the safe frame). Does this make sense? sorry it quite a tricky one to communicate. if its still unclear ill try to show a full work flow, side by side.
Thanks for looking at it.

Can you send me a .3md file which demonstrates this issue pls?
