Thanks for the #'s, rafg.

So hard to read this data - could you post just speed ms/s info when rendering the same scene?
Sorry in advance, if I'm stating the obvious here

I think it's meant to be read, that the Titan X completed the render in 3:09 mins.
Whereas the 980Ti completed "just" 72.8% of the same render in 3:08 (meaning it was slower, compared to the Titan) and finally the 780 completed "just" 48.7% of the same render in 3:16 mins, meaning it was even slower, compared to the 980Ti.

Erick,
Yes, I understand what you wrote but to give us a clear image of how X is faster against 980TI now I have to do the following calculations:
(1/189)/(0.728/188) = 1.36
which means X is faster about 36% than 980 Ti in DL.

(1/189)/(0.487/196) = 2.13
which means X is faster about 113% than 780 in DL.

Going further:
(0.1435/187)/(0.1165/196) = 1.29
which means X is faster about 29% than 980 Ti in PMC
(0.1435/187)/(0.09/198) = 1.68
which means X is faster about 68% than 780 in PMC.

(0.397/180)/(0.311/193)=1.37 - PT X is faster than 980 TI by 37%
(0.397/180)/(0.205/194)=2.08 - PT X is faster than 780 by 108%

Hope it helps.

PS. Thanks again for the data.

Thanks for going even further in depth, with the data, smicha.

That Titan X thingy is quite nice :D

And we still know that it shall be faster when Octane is fully optimized...

Hi,

Following this with interest I was trying to compare these results of Titan XP and T980Ti with the OctaneBench results of Titan X,
to see if there is some sense to mkae out of it, but I got more confused.
In the OctaneBench the Tian X and 980 Ti have about the same results, so we could say that Titan XP has about 35-40% gain on Titan X.

What confuses me is when looking at the specs of all cards: cudacores and clocks:
(different architecture, but that's what this is all about)
980TI: 2816 cores / 1000Mhz
Titan X: 3072cores / 1000Mhz
Titan XP: 3584 cores / 1417Mhz
When doing the math on Titans... (3584x1417)/(3072x1000)=1,65.. that should be about +65%

If this is correct, the Titan XP is in fact under performing relatively to its specs.... Or am I doing something wrong here?

That's right rappet - X is not at its full speed yet. According to my calculations X shall score above 220 or even 250...

Yes, from cudacores and Clocks it should be almost 210, and the the gain of new architecture...
Nvidia is master in marketing, syaing it is x times faster then... (for gaming ofcourse), but we narrow it down a little by comparing not apples and pears by looking at all the specs  ... hoping for optimization soon...
...and then there is still a choice of being patient and wait for the hmb2, or go for it now :D
(depends on needs ofcourse)

Anyway, thanx for sharing your Titan Xp experience, rafg ;)

cheers
