Hi we are using 3ds max octane 3
We have a scene that is 3.5 Gb and our video cards are 2.5Gb (780TIs) and one titan
We enabled CPU memory 4Gb but the only cards that is rendering is Titan and 780TI say out of memory. I thought I added 4 gb of CPU memory?
is CPU memory only for textures or something?
Thanks
Out Of memory error
Yes, the Out Of Core Textures option is only for image files. Geometry stays on the GPU. Try setting the Out Of Core Textures headroom higher.

Hi coilbook,
have you already tried to reduce the Parallel Sampling value in the kernel settings?
it can drastically reduce the VRAM used.

yes we had 16 but now it is 8.
By the way does GPU memory gets filled with mesh first and whatever room left with textures?
I am unsure on the specific load order - sorry.By the way does GPU memory gets filled with mesh first and whatever room left with textures?

Thank you. I just thought it should fill up with mesh and then textures since textures can be also added to CPU and mesh cannot.face_off wrote:I am unsure on the specific load order - sorry.By the way does GPU memory gets filled with mesh first and whatever room left with textures?

Also would be nice to have an option in octane render viewport how much memory textures use and how much memory mesh uses. Because we only have 2.5 Gb available and if we hide some mesh our memory still says 2.5 Gb left (I guess textures fill it up) so we really dont know how much mesh we can unhide to fill up GPU memory to the max with mesh that way CPU will take textures
