Which version (build) of windows10 do you have ?nickmilitello wrote:for some reason the 1080 is not recognized in my rig. I have a single 1080. octane 3.02 says compute model 6.1 and it won't work with it. Any thoughts? Latest drivers from NVIDIA. Windows 10 pro. Also has anyone go it to work on a mac?
Build 10240 can't recognize Pascal GPUs, you need to have windows Build 1511 or newest Win10 AU (Anniversary Update).

Regarding the fabled Pascal optimizations, is there any ETA for them? Is there any work put toward them already by now, or its still very much thing of future?
I was looking at getting 2 1080s myself. Been waiting for them since last summer, when my GTX590 broke (since then on replacement 580). Originally wanted to get 980Ti right away, but then decided to wait for Pascal in expectation of some performance improvements. So you can imagine i am not really happy now to find out 1080 is pretty much the same as 980Ti, if not worse performance wise, with only silver lining being the 8GB VRAM against 6. One may argue 1080 is not really replacement of 980Ti in the Nvidia line-up, 1080Ti will be, then again 1080 costs the same what 980Ti used to...
Bottom line, it would be awesome to get some info on what is going on behind the scenes, when is the Pascal optimized version of Octane going to drop and some guesstimate of what perf improvements over the current situation to expect....so i can finally decide, whether to buy those 1080s or wait some more for potential 1080Ti.
