exciting news - looks like rohan dalvi has made a breakthrough with custom attributes - he has got shading by temperature going on!
any ideas?? couldnt be more excited to see how this is done...

Not yet, sorry. Waiting for the OSL feature, that is the key to build the shader nodes needed to retrieve the attributes information at render time.
