Ok, so this is probably a simple thing but I can't figure out how to save the beauty pass at the same time as render passes. Often all I need is Beauty, Mat ID and Alpha and I'd like this saved in one go in a layered file.

I enable render passes, Save Beauty, Multilayer file, Show passes, then render the image. If I save a layered file (tiff or PSD) all I get is the passes. In order to save the beauty pass I have to save the image again but turn off Layers.

(Note my workflow is that I never use file paths for saving renders, I manually save what I need from the PV, I find it quicker.)

Have you tried setting the Save > Regular Image > File dialog in the render settings dialog?
I usually setup a file path there with a name that is similar to the render pass name, but differentiates it enough.

No, I only render stills so I never use file paths. It adds an unnecessary overhead and results in pop up warnings about overwriting files.

If I enable Save Beauty it displays the beauty pass in the PV but there is not a combined beauty layer in multipass file.

Can the Devs confirm if this is a limitation of whether some combination of checkboxes have to be enabled in order to save out the beauty pass and ID passes in a single file?
