Effectors not working in octane

Does anyone know why my effectors arnt working in octane ?
Trying to have a plane effects turn off lights as it passes ( light being a textured emission )
My effector works with regular lights but not with octane lights or emissions :S

Can you be more clear how do you set effectors? With color options?

Yes sorry, spheres in cloner, plain effector on cloner, colour mode on, blending mode subtract, modify clone 100 percent,falloff shape linear

i've set up this example of what im trying to do, simple enough but can't get the basics down to transfer to my project

well here is a sample scene. It has 3 different way to do. Actually we have lot of scenes like this in latest release topic for checking.

Thanks for your examples aoktar! This seems to work with Cloners but I'm having some issues with this technique using MoText. I made a separate post here:
