Hello,

i m new in Octane and I need help with grass material.

The grass material in C4D is not 3D - it is flat.

I hope you can help me.

And another question.

When the grass is 3d . How do I get a collision query on houses, trees etc...

I hope my beginner questions about Octane are not stupid... :(

Best wishes from Germany

Hi bombastic80,
there are no stupid questions, but I have to admit that I have not really understand your questions, sorry
Could you share a couple of example c4d scenes and screenshots to better understand what are your needs?
In general, there is a c4d material converter that works for basic materials.

Hi Bepeg4d,

here a better picture.

I used the Octane Grass and it is flat - thats my Problem :-)

i want grass like the internal C4D Grass / Hair.

The internal grass of cinema 4D doesn`t work in octane... so i used the vegetation from Livedb.

And on the example file i made a plane under the house. As long as the grass works, as I get it out that the grass does not grow by the plane.

Best wishes from Germany and sorry for my bad englisch,
Timo

Hi Timo,

when I understand you right, you want real grass as a 3d-model.
Now you have only mapped a flat bitmap on the surface.

I dont know if Real Displacement Textures have a grass material in their portfolia.
But othewise, you need f.e. a 3d-mesh of a single grass-patch and clone it over the surface.

Not sure, but maybe in the octane example scenes there was a grass scene.

regards
Mike

There's actually a patch of grass already in the c4d content browser. Then just use octane scatter to spread and poof, you're done.
