I'm not sure what's crash? Cuda error(Render failure)? It will not crash without hitting limits of RAM and VRAM. There's nothing to do by myself in this case. After many test i would say it's a vram crash.
I just don't undwrstand why it says there are so many hairs.
As i said for 1000 hair with 15 segment it says there are 15000 hair.
