Here's what I've noticed though:

Once a mesh is converted to static mesh in Modo there's no longer any UV maps visible under the list view.
However the texture locators still reference the name of the original UV map.

Static meshes with textures and individual UV map names do get rendered in V-Ray for Modo. So apparently it is possible for a third party renderer to get the UV map.

Perhaps you could look at it further when you have time? The solution you mention is fine, but if it is possible to use UV maps with individual names I'd love that as it makes everything smoother to set up.
This is now fixed in the next release.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for looking into the UV/Static Mesh issue. Unfortunately I still get missing textures in Octane with the build you just posted. Creating a simple cube with a diffuse color texture (default settings for everything) still renders without the texture in Octane, once converted to a static mesh.

It is working for me. Is it possible there was a problem downloading or installing the update?

The moment I convert the mesh to a static mesh the texture no longer renders.

Kit version says: OctaneRender (version 3.3.1.112.901) I tried uninstalling and re-downloading/installing again.

I've tried disabling V-Ray to make sure it doesn't interfere somehow. But I still don't get the texture on the static mesh in Octane.

Pls try https://render.otoy.com/customerdownloa ... _64bit.exe. I think the previously installer did not include the change you are after. Sorry for the error.

Thanks, Paul. It's working now as long as the name of the UV map is 'Texture'.

You are right. On closer inspection, I cannot see where Modo is storing the UV map for a static map. The List panel->UV Maps is empty (so the Octane plugin is not able to find any vertex maps). I cannot see how it would be possible to obtain UV's using TheFoundry prescribed method for getting this info. However if you turn on Use Modo Render Cache in the Preferences->Octane panel, UV's are returned. If you do this, pls check the manual for the limitations around using the Modo Render Cache.

With render cache enabled in the Octane preferences I'm now seeing UVs with individual names. So that is working, thanks. It's a good solution for what I need, which is basically rendering stills of imported CAD data. (Static Meshes speed up loading/saving the scene tremendously in Modo).

I know I've mentioned it before, but V-Ray for Modo does render UVs with individual names for static meshes without enabling the Modo render cache for V-Ray. So there's probably some trick to make it work, like having the right info available to developers :)

Thank you for providing a working solution in such a short time. Keep up the good work!

I managed to work out how to get the UV Map name for a static mesh, so UV mapping should now work for static meshes that have UV Maps other than "Texture". You can test this out with the version at https://render.otoy.com/customerdownloa ... _64bit.exe.
