possible weight map and slope gradient support?

I was wondering if there are any known plans to one day support texturing via weight maps using a gradient, and or.... having a slope falloff tool for gradients. These are extremely useful tools that Lightwavers have used for ages to texture quickly, especially useful for things like terrains.

Great to ear that.
Any news about this ?

OK, this got my ears pricked up. So will this allow things like an old traditional LW gradient node based on things like slope/incidence/distance? If so I would love that. I used them all the time in LW.juanjgon wrote:Not yet. We need the OSL feature in Octane to think about support custom attributes, weight maps, etc.
Thanks,

This OSL feature, it's coming in the 3.x iteration of Octane?

D'oh! I was just going to ask if there is any way to generate an alpha map in node editor using weight maps.... Please Juanjo, as soon as humanly possible, get this feature on one of the front burners...
It would rock to be able to generate a texture from weights > plug into Octane Texture Image > plug that into Material Mixer and POW! Of course, there are about 10k other uses for weights, but this is the one I would use most often...

Yes sure. Anyway, one workaround can be to use an UV map and a grayscale gradient texture to simulate the weight map behavior. The plugin could even extract the weight map data and convert it internally to an UV map, but I hope to see soon the real Octane support of arbitrary attributes to avoid these workarounds.
Thanks,
