The latest commercial release of Octane 3 supports Pascal cards now, but we are looking to optimise for them further in coming versions.

What do you mean by otimise? I want to use the Octane C4D plugin on a Windows machine (Windows 10). Will it work with GTX 1080 or not? Or does it make more sense to use a Maxwell like Titan X?

Hi hsmann,
yes it works :)
as already reported by haze, the latest version of OctaneRender Standalone and plugin v3.03.2 can work with new Pascal cards. Some users are reporting that the speed of GTX 1080 is equal to a GTX 980ti (almost 125 in OctaneBench). This means 25% more speed compared to the previous GTX 980 out of the box.
Not bad if you take in mind that the developers had to make a mix between CUDA 7.5 and early version of CUDA 8 to make them working, so actually there is not any optimization of the code right now. We expect to have better performance as soon as Nvidia finally will publish the final CUDA 8 and the Octane code could be optimized to take full advantage of the new architecture... stay tuned ;)

I currently have two of the older Titan X cards and interested in installing additionally two of the Nvidia 1080 cards.

Will Octane V3 recognize all four cards to render, Titan X mixed with Nvidia 1080 installed?

Hi acmem,
yes sure, now that Pascal GPUs are supported, you can mix any kind of architecture.
As always the only limit is the 8GB VRAM of 1080 compared with the 12GB of Titan X.

Thanks for the info!

I will try and find two older titan x cards. The new ones are just too expensive!!!
