Octane render only generate stereo anaglyphic? not side by side?
I really need to resolve this, because I work a lot with 3D stereo, but can not get a good result in blender 2.49, just in blede 2.5

I am also interested by 3D stereo. I have been a member of the French stereo society for several years in the past, and I have a huge collection of stereo photos that I shot.

I have done some stereo images with Blender, and I think that the ability to save separately right and left images in true color in Octane as well as anaglyph would really be welcome !

you can just setup a dual camera rig in your host app and render the 2 frames separately !?

For stereo animation, and if I'm not missing something, it would mean render the whole animation twice (one rendered sequence for each camera), and as current obj export time is very long, it would be tedious. As images are already separated within Octane, saving two images for each frame would save half of the export and render process time.

Am I wrong ?

indeed, but where do we draw the line ?
We've got more than 100 todo things in our bugtracker.
Some of these are massive efforts. (finish the RIB code, etc...)
I'd rather focus on those things first.
At the end of the day, nobody renders 3d images anyway, when we added the anaglyphic mode,
we had a few renders/tests and everyone's forgotten about it already.

I agree that it is probably not a priority for everyone. And even not mine even if I like a lot 3D images. However it can be useful for some people.

Related to the anaglyph, i think that they are few used because it is a rather outdated 3D visualization method that doesn't allow true colors and is mostly used for printed images in magazines.

There are very few features films using anaglyphs and last time I purchased a 3D DVD, (Voyage au centre de la terre) I put off the glasses after less than 10 minutes and changed the disk for the ordinary one fortunately provided in the box, as images were really painful to watch !

I understand, but I think the OCTANE could be ahead of its competitors, since the 3D stereo tends to be increasingly used, especially now with the popularization of 3D TV and cinema

Not having it on their priority list doesn't mean that they will not add this feature one day...

I think that people who really need this feature can keep some hope !

Hi guys,

Before we can support 3d rendering for cinema we need to be able to render images for cinema, instances, object and mesh motion blur, hair/strands etc... not ?
