Hi,

How can I render an animated fur ?
I can render fur when it is a still image, but not when it is an animation (for example a furry cylinder animated with bones)

I haven't tried rendering stand hair with the plugin in an animation. It is possibly just using the Modo strand position from frame 0 for each frame, which is why it is not moving. An option would be to render in Octane with the Modo Render Cache enabled - that should cause Modo to triangular the fur so it renders in Octane as polygons, and this will update each frame. Pls see the manual for the Render Cache limitations. https://docs.otoy.com/manuals/products/ ... specifics/. If you have a samples scene with animated fur, pls send it to me and I can take a closer look.

Thank you Paul.
I can have the animation if I render manually frame by frame by reloading the scene at every frame, but it can't work with "render an animation" button. The same image (the first one) is saved each time.

You can load two simple scenes, one with dynamic guides for hair, one with just fur on a cylinder :

Maybe there is a solution that i have not found.

Thanks for providing the scenes. I was able to get this to animate correctly by enabling the Preferences->Use Modo Render Cache setting, and then enabling Live Geometry Update for the Mesh item with the fur shader.

Thank you a lot Paul.
I was able to render the animation with the "dynamic hair" file with the settings you give, but unable with the "hybrid ball with cache".
Have you succeded with that file too ?

I have to tick "load all frames into octane" too for the dynamic hair file. Is it correct ?

Thank you again for all your kind support, it helps a lot.

I checked that file, and you are right - it does not update between frames. The Modo Render Cache API is not firing an "update" event on the fur geometry in that scene. That is a bug in the Modo Render Cache API. The only possible work-around I can thing of would be to add an option to reload the entire scene's geometry each frame during animation.

Thank you for watching ! The problem appears when fur is driven by a dynamic curve

If you could add this option, it could be very useful.
