It closes Octane, losing our work. This has happened several times on all of our computers here.

We originally used a third-party library for this which unfortunately crashed in some circumstances. It's now simply file based and should be more robust. Please note that only Octane instances of version 3.02 and higher can be tracked with this system and that you close older versions before you sign out.
I just re-formatted our 4th computer and havent put the new version on it yet. It was last logged in with 3.0. Is that causing a problem?

Upon more thinking, I realized that we are using the unofficial blender exporter script to get out .objs and camera data into standalone. It was still pointing to 3.0 for that (we would copy the camera data from that new octane instance over to our working file). We made it point to the newer version of of Octane and I think we are good so far. I will let you know if we have any other problems. Thank you for point that out, I don't think I would have thought to change that otherwise.

This happens if you are using offline licensing, your SSO session has expired (which happens after a week) and your license data needs to be updated (which happens when you update from 3.02 to 3.03.1).
In Standalone you should be able to continue working if you press 'OK', which will prompt you the sign-in window to ask your user's password and re-initialize your session.
If you are using a plugin, this functionality has not been made available yet so you will probably notice that the plugin is not authenticated and cannot seem to be able to re-authenticate (probably will see the error "SSO sign in was canceled". At the moment this can be circumvented by deleting your credentials file located at

As it stands this would make using Altus very problematic, as Altus has mentioned that it needs the direct light visibility and I was assuming that the Direct Light Filter was what you need to use. It seems anything behind glass (with or without fake shadows/affect alpha) would not sample properly. It also seems that there are issues sampling anything behind glass in octane in general from what I've noticed...
Is there something I'm missing?
