Total newbie to octane, I'm doing some of the demos I've found on line, and for some reason, if I use a glossy shader I get zero reflection and a specular shader just turns opaque. Any ideas as to wether I'm missing something here or is this a limitation of the demo (which I highly doubt).
I want to buy the full up software but so far having zero luck with the demo version.

you have not specified, so I guess that you are trying with Standalone. If yes, could you try to download this scene:

It's an OctaneRender package file with three scenes inside used by OctaneBench, but they are also a good example of the difference between the four type of kernels, Direct Light, Path Tracing, PMC and InfoChannels.
