7 GPU Build?

Hey all!

I have 7 GPUs but I only have a 4 PCI slots. 1 16x, 2 8x, and 1 1x.

I have looked into splitters, risers, and such. I would love to install the 4 extra GPUs into my machine though they don't fit in the tower.

Would anybody have some recommendations about how to go about creating this?

I had such ambitions a few months ago. I ended up putting the GPUs in two machines instead of one, it was just getting too fragile.

Hi, I use the Amfeltec GPU Cluster and it works really well. On my last animation I used 3 Titan Z s in my workstation and 4 980ti cards in the cluster. It was easy to set up too.

canada computers told me that with my motherboard that has 5 pcie slots, even if i use the gpu cluster from amfeltec the motherboard wont be able to support it because of the limitation of cpu and motherboard lanes. Something like that. I dont know exactly how this is.

Can i get this cluster too? cuz i was just in the midst of building another computer to network with mine, mining rig + evga sr2 classified motherboard, xeon cpus, 7 gtx780 6gb watercooled.

Hmm, I don't think the 5 GPUs in the main workstation will make it impossible to use the Amfeltec Cluster. There are a few users on the forum who use the clusters with fully loaded systems.

I'm not sure if you've seen it already, but here is a thread with lots of good info from users hitting the outer limit of what is possible with external gpu computing.

but...if u have Middle Scenes, more GPU's bring nothing.
Only if Otoy allow OneGPU/Frame Rendering....
