Hey guys, I would like to see if there is possible to mix different OS to render in netwrok? For example, I want to use windows os as main master(due to 3ds max only in win)...but I want the rest of the slave in linux OS say ubuntu..does it possible?? if does, can I have my master using 3ds max scene(windowns of cuz) and then use linux slave to network rendering?? please guide me through this, thanks!
Hi c4d,
don't worry, octane net render has no problem in multi os environment.
I work everyday with OsX and one or two win7 slaves
Since the slave only need the standalone app, it's very easy to setup.

thanks man! That's really good news!! another small question, that being said, the linux os will only need a standalone license(no need plugin license) as a slave to rendering from 3ds max scene file in master ?bepeg4d wrote:Hi c4d,

That's right, slave nodes require just a standalone license, you just need plugin licenses on workstations where you are intending to use the plugin.c4d wrote:... another small question, that being said, the linux os will only need a standalone license(no need plugin license) as a slave to rendering from 3ds max scene file in master ?
As an idea, due to licenses are just activated on a node when Octane is running, you could potentially setup an elastic cluster of Octane render nodes granted you have the required licenses, with nodes moving from one geographic area to another
