Hi,

The Octane materials are not visible in 3ds max Material Editor and on objets in the viewport.
Why ? (maybe I'm doing something wrong because I have a little experience with Octane).
A simple example:

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi,

Could you send a screenshot of your Viewport settings (in Preference Settings)? It should be working fine for you if it is set up correctly.

Hi,

What lighting are you using for your scene? Also, when you open the material editor, with your RGB Images, do you see the option "show standard map in viewport" (alternatively, shaded map)?

Also, please confirm that you are running the latest CUDA drivers, as this can also cause some issues. Based in the screenshot you provided, the materials should be displaying in the viewport.

I had a moment to test the problem and had the same result with mental ray.
What I have to do is start with a new material, then apply the bitmap to the diffuse slot, apply this material to the object and this solves the problem.

Interesting, when I have a max file where the situation looks like in the picture:

Octane render is active and octane materials icons in the editor/prewiew window/material browser are not visible but standard materials icons are visible.

This is not an octane problem. This is a 3ds max problem, I think.
Thank you for your patience.

Hi,

Thank you very much for the feedback and supporting images. Seems like this is indeed being caused by a bug in the Max SDK. We will make a note of this in for future releases. Just to confirm - are you currently using Max 2017? If so, this will need to be chased up by Autodesk. Otherwise, we will see what solution can be reached on our end.
