I can't seem to get reflective caustics to work in a scene, even a simple scene (like the attached) with a ring and a metallic material on a grey floor with all kernels. Is it possible in octane? I've searched the board and can't find an answer to it.

Yes possible. Add a significantly bright light source to scene. Use a glossy material. Use Pathracing or PMC(it's better for caustics). Use caustic blur=0.02 or around. Small bright dots are actually result of caustic effect.
