I cannot get my system to boot with GPU risers. All GPUs work plugged into mobo. I can get up to 3 GPUs working in windows with risers but beyond that windows runs into a "WHEA uncorrectable error" when booting. BIOS passes most times. I have tried different types of risers, first x16 to x16 and I am now using 1x to 16x powered risers. I have enabled above 4G decoding in BIOS and am doing a full UEFI boot.

Risers themself does not do anything bad it's not soemthign system sees, but..if You them, use god, short quality pieces with good contacts & propper shielding =) check this piece we wrote with Guy from Polder Animation http://tomglimps.com/custom-pc-for-otoy ... animation/
Thanks for the link, my x16 risers were shielded, the x1 to x16 risers are just USB cables…I've fiddled with this thing for hours to no avail.glimpse wrote:Risers themself does not do anything bad it's not soemthign system sees, but..if You them, use god, short quality pieces with good contacts & propper shielding =) check this piece we wrote with Guy from Polder Animation http://tomglimps.com/custom-pc-for-otoy ... animation/
have You tried powered pieces? I gues if You're running 4x GPUs anyway You're conected via x8, not x16 =)tcollier wrote:Thanks for the link, my x16 risers were shielded, the x1 to x16 risers are just USB cables…I've fiddled with this thing for hours to no avail.glimpse wrote:Risers themself does not do anything bad it's not soemthign system sees, but..if You them, use god, short quality pieces with good contacts & propper shielding =) check this piece we wrote with Guy from Polder Animation http://tomglimps.com/custom-pc-for-otoy ... animation/
I had similar trouble. I just kept trying different combinations of cards in different slots, and keeping clear hand written records of what I did. A crucial step was completely resetting the bios every time I tried different cards in different places. My motherboard seemed to have preferences for certain slots. Still don't understand it, just trial and error.

I had the same problems with USB3 risers. In the end I got a single 3 way splitter. I have not had a single issue since.

I'm using that amfeltec splitter also. Has worked well.
One problem with the splitter is that it confuses Adobe CC GPU accelerated stuff. If I use GPU acceleration in Media Encoder or Premiere Pro, it gives me a hard Windows 10 crash. Anybody else seeing that?

That would be problematic…Ai etc is very slow without GPU acceleration. How much do these splitters cost? All I can find on the website is to get a quote.mbutler2 wrote:I'm using that amfeltec splitter also. Has worked well.
