Hi!

How to render 16-bit depth images in maya plugin?
I can only write 8-bit files, and 32-bit float exr's. Switching in octane Settings from PNG-8 to PNG-16, etc, seems to doing nothing.

Cheers!

I have options for Tiff 16 and Maya IFF 16 bit in the image format selection.

I haven't had the time to look into it any more. Why are you wanting to use a 16 bit instead of 32?

Single 1080 exr weights about 33 MB. If I want to send for example 1 minute of exr's to my editor over the internet even if frames are packed, the amount of data could be a problem. I not always need 32-bit precission.

Hi Guys

I have the same issue

Even if a i choose a pure 16 format, render in 32 depth

I just need a tiff 16.

Any solutions for that?

Selecting a 16 bit format is the awkward OctaneForMaya way to tell Maya you're working with linear color  ,
then in the second render setting Tab you can choose to output EXR 32 bits or composite EXR half float 16 bits or 32 bits, that's all,
all other format are 8 bits I think.
