Sorry for adding to the frey guys, but I wanted to be very clear on something...

Alright, so first off people who are saying that they have the right to post anything here are delusional. This is a privately owned forum, and it's by the good graces of the for profit company that owns it, that you are allowed to post anything.

Those who think that it's their right to be able to post positive or negative as *they* see fit, have little or no experience with the corporately owned forums (adobe for example) in this world. When you are on another persons/companies forum(s), you can only hope that they leave your comments up, and many will instantly remove anything negative about their company on their own forums. Clearly - if you think this, you need to get a better understanding with regards to how things work in the real world (no offense to anyone out there who thinks this way, but it's time to wise up).

2nd, I'm no fan of this plan, but I'm holding back till I see it implemented before I make a final decision. I don't know that I would have bought it originally having heard this requirement, but I can't say for sure, and the fact is that it was little more than $100 US ($130), which I can handle as I use it for a little bit of work now and then, but mostly I do video production, and sales/marketing/advertising stuff.

3rd - I'll use this as a place to post a suggestion as well, I think that a good solution would be to have a fully functional "Octane Live" software that is able to be used to setup and render, etc... . Then you also have an octane render tool, which only opens .OCS files that were saved from "Octane Live" that just has a display and exposure controls ( no camera movement, material settings, nothing else) that is able to run w/o constant internet.

My idea may be something like what Radiance has been creating, or totally different, but I thought I'd put out the suggestion as a means to prevent problems rendering when a connection dies and the rendering must go on :).

yes that is a good solution i think !
one good thing is the possibility to activate and deactivate the license so i musst not worry about hardware failure/crash
second one would be a cli-version that is only for rendering -> in the features-list is also written "Scriptable console version"
-> but the console version need also some kind of license to bind it to a pc!! maybe Octane-Live could built in a license-server..
or btw fryrender checks the whole LAN-network to check the count of running pc's with license and the render-nodes are not bounded to hardware.
but if you work with lincenses, there is the possibility to crack

its all not easy but i think radiance do the right ;)
however i it makes no difference to me, because i'm always online..

I moved this thread to general discussion, as it is'nt a new product release announcement.
