Yes, it should work. If not, it's a bug. I did some volume rendering via network in the Standalone and it worked.mbutler2 wrote:Will Turbulence FD work over a network when rendering with multiple machines in Octane 3? If so, has anyone tried it?

Did anyone manage to get this working? I didn't have any issues with the previous version, but since updating to the latest version we have a scene with a large cache (over 100gb) and I can't for the life of me get it render over the network. C4D sees the slave, but the netrender message just stays red and says 'updating'.
Any workarounds that anyone has managed to get sorted? Looming deadline and pretty desperate to get it sorted.

Does network rendering work without volumes? Did you update the slaves to 3.00?BTmonocle wrote:Did anyone manage to get this working? Thanks for the quick reply dude.
Yeah C4D plugin is updated and the slave standalone to the latest build. C4D is seeing the slave and network rendering is definitely turned on, but in picture viewer it doesn't look like it's transferring any data. I've also noticed since this update that even other small scenes, with and without volumes have a really big delay in sending the data to the slave. So most of the rendering is done on the master.
I'm having the issues with volumes too with big and small caches. The main project at the moment is a huge simulation, but after doing some tests even with very small ones and larger voxel counts the master is not sending to the slave. Very frustrating

Hi BTmonocle,
I have tried to push a bit a TFD simulation but my master cannot work with more than 55GB of simulation.
What I can say is that my slave doesn't have any issue, while the master crashed.
In my case, the slave is better than the master in terms of GPU/CPU, what is your master/slave configuration exactly?
ciao beppe

Yeah that's a shame. I mean the simulation we have here is absolutely massive. I guess it would just be nice to get Octane rendering it. But I have tried with a smaller sim, about 10gb for the cache and I'm having the same thing with that too.
Have had to find a workaround for now. But will follow development on it on the forum.
It does seem to me that the data is not being sent to the slave though. Normally in PV the data starts to go down on the left value as the data is sent over the network. With large volumes at the moment it just stays still and the master finishes the scene, causing longer render times.
Regarding our setup. Master is a 5950x / 2x Titan X. Slave is an old i7 2700k (I think) and 2x Titan X. Gigabit ethernet switch for the network.
Cheers again for the replies dudes.
