Hello !

It's my first message on the forum and i'm sorry to begin with a problem !
I just changed my graphic cards and the new ones are not recognized.
I upgraded to version 3.0 a few days ago and it was working just fine with one Geforce 970. Yesterday i added 2 Geforce 1080. During my first render with all GPUs, only the 970 seemed to work and there was no improvement on render speed. Octane was using 4G on VRAM, ignoring the 2 GTX 1080.
I decided to make a test without the old 970 graphic card and removed it from the computer.

This time, with only the 2x1080 graphic cards, i have this message (it didn't appeared before since the GTX 970 was recognized) :

Image

The driver is up to date and installed yesterday. Both graphic cards are recognized by the system, but not by Octane.

Image

By default, both cards are unchecked in the settings. Even if i check it, it doesn't change anything and the same message appears.

Image

I tried to check all boxes and enable "USE ALL GPUs" in Cinema4D but i still have the same message.

Image

I would prefer to use Octane plugin for Cinema4D since i'm not very comfortable with Standalone but i tried to install it and give it a try and see if the cards were recognized. It seems that the problem is the same !

Image

I believed it was a straightforward procedure but i guess it's not. Could someone guide me and tell me if i forgot something or did something wrong ?
I'm very much looking forward to see those card in action, combined with Octane ! (the GTX 970 alone was quite fast already !)

Thank you very much to all !

Bonjour,

Octane seems not support yet the new 1080 GTX. As said somewhere in the forum, OTOY need some weeks (two or 3) to add the new GPU support.
(En tout cas dès que c'est possible, on aimerai vraiment voir comment ça tournent ces bestioles sur octane . merci)

OK, thanks for the reply !
I wasn't aware of that ! I guess I'll wait for the update, then...

(Je tâcherai de poster un petit comparatif 970GTX seul VS 2x1080GTX + 970GTX.. Ca devrait déboiter !)

Any official word from OTOY about when the GTX1080 will be supported? Many already recieved theirs and the company I'm at currently started to build a Quad-GPU Render machine with 1080s. It will be funny for them when they realize they can't use it yet.
Last thing I've read in forums was two or thee weeks. But that seems awfully long.
It doesn't have to be fully optimized for the start, it should just work at all. Optimization can come after that.

Knowledge is the problem.
Before any software or hardware updates you should find information about issues and support. That's why bewith new OS production studios and artist still idling update and waiting for confirmation that it works well with all the tools. That's why im on windows 8.1 and using adobe cc 2014... because they work perfectly together. So... everybody was warned about GTX1080 and octane. Nothing awful.

Always a good idea to use the forum search:

Indeed it is.
But this thread doesn't seem to mention any release date of a working version of Octane.
I'll be patient, i guess they are trying to provide it as fast as they can..

Well, I guess they don't have a release date yet. And you are not the only one who tries to stay patient ;)

The card was just released. Not even sure they have received their cards yet. After that they need to assess how much work it is and only then will
they have an estimated time of arrival.

Just take a chill pill. It's new hardware, you should have waited a bit.

Pascal works only with Cuda 8.0. It will be released in August.
At the moment you can play games with the 1080.
