reading the volume rending manual it suggests that I can save 24 frames per file, but I can't figure out how to save multiple frames per vdb file in houdini. I asked on SideFX forum but didn't find an answer.

Thanks

Multiple frames in only one OpenVDB file? As far I know this is not possible. You need one file for each frame.

Thanks for the clarification Juanjo. I just got confused by the manual "As an example, if a user intends to render an animation at 24 frames per second and has assigned 24 frames per file using the UI, then this setting effectively means that for every second Octane will load the next volume and render it". Anyways, it doesn't matter, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything.

another question. When I did a batch rendering for a vdb seq. I noticed that octane reloads each file (frame). So as long as each file can fit in my GPUs, I can render as many frames as I want right?

Thanks.

Yes, each vdb file is loaded only for the current frame, so Octane is going to use only the GPU memory needed for each file.
