I hate piracy : pirates costed me 20 years of hard researches and work and the savings of a whole life invested in hightech processes !

It is a shame that people dare copy Octane, while its price is a gift compared to other render engines of lower quality !

I wonder if your planning on offering Octane for free but watermarking and we have to pay to get our images unlocked!!! Really interested in how you are going to get around Pirates - or make piracy useless!

the most important thing in 1.23 is support for memory.

This is just the way graphics cards work, the interface between system RAM and GPU is too slow, nothing Radiance can do about that apart from optimise.

I think there is only a couple ways to stop piracy that would be cloud computing or the new govt laws against piracy they are shutting down a lot of piracy sites but its mostly the movie and music industry thats getting the benefits of the new laws and its a US law so dont know how that affects other countries i dont know how you can make your software uncrackable i think you can delay it by changing the licensing but they have cracked software you wouldnt think possible Vray has been cracked and it uses a dongle that was supposed to be uncrackable but i think it took them about a yr to do it which is a lot longer than most. All they need are installers and a license and they can pretty much crack anything they are doing group pools to buy software and then they crack the software so even if nobody shares there intsallers they will buy one. Ive been watching your sales on here through your members since the crack was released and it doesnt look like its slowed down too much so hopefully it wont effect this software too much

My excitement about Octane has finally evaporated.

a. When I first bought the software it was said to come with "plugins" to connect with the main animation package. Instead I got a mel script that attempted to bridge the gap between Maya and Octane using the OBJ format... Hardly worth a cent.

b. The fireflies quickly became evident. Soon enough it was announced that my CUDA capable GPU will not be supported with the next release of the software, which it is said will be introducing MTL to solve the fireflies issue. This has not materialized yet and even if it does my GPU will not support it. I don't know if it will even run Octane for that matter.

c. Yesterday I was very surprised to read that an internet connection will be a requirement to run future versions of Octane. Any discussions on the matter in the forum were put to a stop by Radiance. I attempted to voice my disappointment as a customer to which I got two things: (i) my post was deleted and (ii) a personal message from Radiance saying the following:

"we don't do refunds, for the 99 euro price you've already had a *lot* of software
releases and support from us".

It seems that this young company is quickly adopting a "mental Images" or "autodesk" approach towards it's very first customers who at this stage are essentially investors.

I will not be using, mentioning or recommending this company or it's software after this experience. I have been sincerely promoting it since the first day I tried it and purchased it, but since then I have every reason not to.

The internet connection requirement will definitely cost refractiveSoftware an immense number of customers. Perhaps a buy out by Autodesk was the long term plan and nothing more.

In the end of the day I am glad that I didn't purchase any new hardware to accommodate the changing requirements to run this thing. If I had I would have spent money on a newer GPU for a software that I would not be able to use since it imposes internet connection. As I explained in my deleted post, "internet connection" is not an option. Apparently a refund is not an option either according to Radiance.

I didn't get what I paid for. I don't know if you did.

No way autodesk is buying them they have iray Coming which will at some point be native in our two Main application Max and Maya. Although I miss wavefront I do love Maya 2011 and the new interface so I won't say to many bad things.

I saw your post was deleted this is what I mean about a company being able to take some crticism. You can not delete customer post no matter how much you don't like it. Remember refractive that golden rule the customer is always right. I think we have an octanegate on our hands similar to the iPhone 4 attennagate although Iove apple. At least apple said hay you don't like our product bring it back.
