Hi,
is Vertex map finally compatible with Octane 3.
Aoktar said in this post viewtopic.php?f=25&t=49997&p=276365#p276365 that it would be a feature of Oct 3, but I can't find anything on the manual.

Is going to be available soon Aoktar? Is there "more or less" a release date for this implementation?
I don't write any lines on the Renderer. So i don't know what's when possible. We're waiting as you all guys.

Doing a great job transferring vertex map into texture with its own shader. Maybe its possible to make support of this shader and make Cinema 4D first that support vertex map in Octane?

Hi Aoktar,
Understand if development is dependant on standalone or out of your hands.
If that's the case then how can we submit official feature requests?
I think I've seen one for V2/V3 - now V3 is out it would be good to have an official thread or poll.

Some features are dependant to render core. Vertex maps or custom coloring for render instances. How can we add vertex map support without renderer has not this feature? Of couse i'm following the development even with some requests. But i can't ask every weeks for these. I know some of them in todo list. They'll add when on there and all good. You can ask for core features on standalone forums if you wish.creaturechaffe wrote:Hi Aoktar,

Thanks for your feedback as always Aoktar. I will try to make a request in the renderer forum.
The potential that vertex map has in every 3D platform is huge, so I hope they can get us some information about.
I'm little disappointed with delayed Octane 3 features , like Open CL, Volumetric mesh, Octane Render Cloud, Vertex map... A lot of this amazing stuff was announced one year ago, they said it will be available for Oct 3 release.... and now we got less than the half promised content.
Don't get me wrong, I know you guys work hard, but it feels like Otoy team need more programmers so they can work on time. I would not mind to pay 200€ for a upgrade with all the content, instead of 75 and have to wait like 6 months to get the delayed features.

Thanks for the reply,
I'd like to keep this positive - your work is hugely appreciated - I'm just keen to know some kind of roadmap as support for vertex maps is what i would call 'production ready' which is what I thought V3 was all about.
With respect I am a C4D user - I have no practical use for standalone even if the core of Octane is dependent on it.
I think what everyone is experiencing with Otoy right now is a real lack of clear communication. All people want is clear communication and to feel that feature requests can be made officially not just lost on a forum comment.
Right now I don't think the C4D users have any idea what the 'to do' list is or priorities for additional support e.g. vertex maps.
I think people are getting a bit disillusioned with what 'Octane 3' means. I'd bet that most peoples perception is that Standalone v3 features (cartoon shading) for instance would be ready at the same time in the C4D plugin. I think it's not clear enough what we can expect and in what timeframes. Nobody wants to see a situation develop where V4 has all the cool new features and V4 for C4D is lagging behind (e.g. Vray for C4D).
Truly appreciate your hard work Aoktar - I'd rather you were able to focus on development rather than answering questions here - Otoy really needs to improve communication with customers - I'm sure you have enough on your plate.

Well don't know what's volumetric mesh, maybe you mean volume primitives. Btw if you compare the improvements on plugin side you'll see many many addons which comes from me at a free charge. But i don't see much appreciation else some small amount of people about these. I think that's a fashion on community at these days. I don't mean you but some others. Plugin is nearly full at possible implementations and need more features which comes from Octane Core. I'm also very impatient to see new features at least as you are. Most important is Open shading language which is my tool to add unlimited new features. Vertex maps are important also but not as this. They are working on OSL atm and required a lot much work. I don't care OpenCL too much because can't appreciate Apple what does.JavierVerdugo wrote:Thanks for your feedback as always Aoktar. I will try to make a request in the renderer forum.
