Hi,
Can you make it so that when you are working with material nodes and have the view mode in "live render" it doesn't invoke a re-rendering until after a node is connected and/or you have "mouse-out", "blur", "lost-focus" or whatever its called. I'm finding it very counterproductive to try and tweak the values and the program tries to re-render "on-change". On my computer, it basically becomes very sluggish until the view has rendered and its not necessarily on the value I wanted so I have to repeated tweak the setting until I get it right, this could take 20-30 seconds when it could have been done in 1 second. If I drag a new node into the scene it invokes a re-render so again I have to wait until that is finished rendering before I can move it into position, if I move other nodes again (connected or not) , invokes a re-render unnecessarily. Its all just so clunky.
I would expect it to: Introduce a node, move it into position, connect it. Then a re-render occurs. If you make changes to any of the numerous settings, nothing happens until you mouse-out or have a button which says "apply", then a re-render occurs. If you grab a node that's already connected, nothing happens until you mouse-out or press "apply", this way if you move it around or group it wont needlessly re-render. Perhaps a function that determines if anything values have changed so that again, its not re-rendering needless because I'm doing housekeeping on my layout or making room for additional nodes.
If you create an emitter, should have a default "black body" and "texture" node included, or add the slider values to the emitter node so that you don't have to jump down and add them.
Can you make the Mapping Node include all the other types instead of a node for each type as a dropdown. This would be easier to just add one Map node and then select the type it is than having a bunch of separate dedicated nodes if you want to change them later. I'm finding that some of my materials are complicated and work better as Spherical vs. Box or Cylinder, but have to add all the nodes just to test...would be so much better to have one node with a dropdown.
There are actually a few other scenarios where the nodes could be consolidated. Like the coordinates, why not make one node that expands into the full coordinate instead of simple coordinates separate.
Thanks
James
