Hi! I installed version 2.25 Octane bought. But when I open the material editor window 3dstudio max everything freeze and the "sphere material" are all black. Not only. Often in the interface on render octane, in "DEVICE" not always show the video card. But also when it appears and open the material editor all freeze the program too. The operating system is Windows 7 Pro, video card NVIDIA Geforce GTX 960 with the latest drivers. I already checked with previous drivers but the problem remains. What happen?

Hi,

Please confirm the following details:

- Version of 3ds Max
- Most recent version of the plugin to not have this issue for you (if any. This will help with narrowing down potential update-related issues).
- Confirmation that you have the Octane Standalone v2.25 installed
- Uninstall, and reinstall in "Administrator Mode" (eliminating the possibility of a corrupted installation).

This should narrow down the possible courses of action. Hopefully the issue resolves while you pursue the points listed above. Let me know how you go.

Ok! I solved the problem!!!!!!! the real problem was the "VGA onboard"!!! I disable it by BIOS not in this case by bridge on motherboard. Now on DEVICE in Octane I can see my Geforce GTX 960 and I can see also octane material in the material editor in 3dstudio max.
I hope this can help other similar cases.

Excellent news! That is a curious case, and duly noted. I would say that this issue lies in the standalone - if we are able to duplicate this issue on our end, we will be able to work on a solution for an upcoming release.

Glad that you were able to figure out the solution!

Cheers,
Azen

Im having the exact problem, where the materials are blacked out, and Max freezes. How did you disable the VGA? In your device manager?

Hi,

You will need to access the BIOS settings at startup. Steps can vary slightly depending on the motherboard, so consult the documentation first (it is either provided with your motherboard, or you can reference it from the website of the manufacturer).

I uninstalled my Nvidia driver and performed a clean reinstall of the driver. For whatever reason, that fixed the problem.

Good to know that your issue had a simple solution in the end. Drivers can be prone to causing weird problems like that. If an issue seems to have no logical explanation, 8 times out of 10 it is to do with CUDA drivers. Well spotted!
