Hi Guys,

im kinda getting more and more confused about the differences between certain properties in standalone and plugin,
where do i set the volume step lenght in max ?

its really hard to understand whats going on if the same element is so different in standalone and plugin,
if im totally wrong here please advise what im doing wrong :)

standalone is latest Version 3.00 beta 1
max plugin is 3.00 beta 1 - 3.7

same goes for render results they are completly different in max then in standalone in default state

You have a volume medium connected to a volume node on a standalone screenshot, but a scattering medium connected to a volume object on a plugin's screenshot. Yes they are different. Because they are different nodes.

I had to tag it as a moveable proxy to get it rendered, try it out

Thx will try that.. i hope they get native Fumefx VDB to render.. its quit useless to only render single vdb Files except for stills..

Edit: it worked when checking movable Proxy. ! Guess its a bug since its a "Single" vdb file and not a sequence.

Is there a way to get sequences working? seen some "Maya" videos where it seems to work.

Hi,

Sequences are working in Octane for 3ds Max as of the most recent release. Give it a test and see how it goes for you!

@pixonoid:
thank you man.
that movable proxy tip saved me hours of frustration.

finally my vdb files show up. it would be nice to have point cloud representation of the data in the viewport tho.

as in the example above, i cannot seem to crank up the density.
the files show up thinned out.

is there some sort of reference document i can look up?
trial and error is a bit tricky. my computer just had a hard lockup when i set the volume step to 0.

very glad to see vdb in octane btw. superfuntime.

Hi,

We will be pushing out a lot of documentation, hopefully there will be resources of value to you there. If not, we will review and add this and any other references that our users are in need of
