I have a scene that goes from rendering at 37M samp/sec to 3.3M samp/sec when I try to render some baked dynamic objects...so an hour/frame vs 5 min/frame. There are about 6M polys with the dynamics (about 260 objects) that are all on their own object ID. Same slow down with or without net rendering. Path Tracing 4000 samples (same problem with direct light and PMC). GPU ram is half full. Octane 2.24.2 - 2.16

What's going on??

This is still happening in 3ds max 2017 with Octane 3 v3.10

So digging into it more, it seems like maybe it's an Octane plugin bug with the number of animated objects I had. If I deleted half of them, then it would render normally. I've had static/camera animation scenes with over 25M polys render fine here...the dynamics and many animated parts are the only new thing.

My workaround for now is exporting, re-texturing, and lighting, everything out to C4D where it's Octane plugin handles the same scene just fine (actually faster).

Try to export the frame that renders slower into ORBX, and then open it in the same version of standalone. Do you get the different speed there?..
