Hey everyone! I have a diffuse material with a bb emission. It shines bright and emits light like it's supposed to. Cool.
My problem is that the second I add a displacement to the material, the emission goes away.
Now, I've noticed that a slight work around is that if I crank up the emission power to like 100,000, it shows up. The problem with that, though, is there's no illumination from it.
So I have an object, displaced via the octane material, emitting visible light, but the light itself is not casting light onto any objects in the scene.

I've attached two photos to this; one showing a sphere with the displacment, and the second showing the displaced object with a bb emission added and cranked up to 10000 power.

I've tried tweaking all sorts of options and whatnot, but I just simply can't figure this out. Any ideas?

Thanks

Make sure your object not too big. in terms of units..
Large objects with emission does not tend to light environment same as real life

Hi, thanks for the reply! Unfortunately scale isn't the problem here. This is also just a default sized sphere. :/

That's the paid upgrade, correct?

And for your example, is that a mixed texture -the lower depth texture being the bb emitter- with a displacement?

yes and partially yes.
It work with or without mix material or mix textures. It's just noise and variations of it to bb emission and displacement. Also mixed material with same noise.

That's great to hear! Can you link to me to where I can pay for the V3 upgrade? I'm having a little trouble navigating to that. Thanks :)
