Apologies for the lack of communication lately. I've been busy on multiple projects over the last few weeks, but I expect the SketchUp plugin to have my full attention for a while now.

An update that fixes several outstanding issues, mostly related to texturing, is currently in internal testing and I hope to be able to release it next week. We also have a new plugin based on Octane 3.0 that should be available at the same time or shortly afterwards. Once you have a chance to try those out I'll look at any remaining issues (in particular, I'm aware that there are still a few problems with proxy objects, and will be investigating that).

In the longer term, I will also be looking into porting the SketchUp plugin to Mac OS X.

Good news...I know the development landscape might be a bit fuzzy at the best of times - but would it be pertinent to publish slightly more concrete release dates? I believe part of the problem in the past has been the use of 'hopefully' and 'should be' - which is great for a general track - but doesn't particularly engender confidence...My 2c anyway.

Also if I could chip in on the bug front - my biggest problem is material picker / editor windows failing to open again if closed which makes the plugin practically unusable - if this could be looked at would be fantastic.

Thanks,

- Rich

A bit non-committal I'm afraid...

Regarding materials, glad there will be an update. My suggestion would be to dump the whole 'porting SU material' approach - which was complex and buggy, including textures tending to re-scale every time the file was re-opened. Simpler and less bug-prone solution would be to simply associate SU with Octane nodes like an OBJ does when it's imported into Standalone.

We continue to pick up on questions, bug reports, and feature requests as they come. The greater focus on SU development also means that new releases will be put out on a more frequent basis.

Significant announcements will be posted to this forum as they come (given the imminent release of 3.0, the next announcement will come within the next few days).

As has been expressed Azen that's great news. Would just be nice if announcements were kept to (it's as simple as when you say 'next week' something actually appears the following week) - that would go a great way to repairing some of the dismay of the users...

BTW, as a set designer having to get out 3-4 renders every day, the development of this plugin could mean I shave hours of work off every week - which would obviously be amazing - so I am very grateful for the renewed interest :D

That is a fair point. Likewise, we are grateful to the users that continue to stick with us while we get this development where we all want it to be :D
