Hi,

after trying to install Houdini-Engine C4D now hangs at startup "initializing plugins"
With Octane Version 2.2.5 R4 it works but not with new V3 Beta.

I think it has to do with the new license.system in octane, but
how can I fix this to get V3 Beta work again?

(Atm I have only the octane-plugin in plugin-folder)
Deleting octane-dat does not help.

thanks
Mike

Mike, you always problem on startup or install. I don't see any problem. Sometimes it's giving a error by new licensing system but works after a restart. This kind of topics are out of focus plugin developers. Entire process is done by Octane core. You may post some screen shots when it happened. It's much better because we can see some messages which is not seen by users.

Hi Ahmet,

thanks for your answer!

Maybe you mix me up with another user.
I often have problems with crashes but not at startup.

Screen does not help here.
C4D starting screen stays forever when "initialize plugins" shows in left lower corner.
Nothing more to say or show here.

When I put 2.25 or V3 Alpha 6.1 ( with old licensing-system) in plugin-folder C4D starts as usual.
So it has to do with logging on to the server to check license.
After installation of houdini engine something must have come a bit messy which
prevents octane to check the license.

I deinstalled already houdini but that does'nt help.

I post it here, because "C4D" won't start anymore with latest octane-"plugin" version and
I hope, that octane developers will also read these posts here.

I'm sure, there is a workaround to fix this problem.
But how?

thanks
MIke

Hi Mike,
please, try to delete this file to reset your session:

Windows:
%APPDATA%/OctaneRender/otoy_credentials

Linux:
~/.OctaneRender/otoy_credentials

OSX: (you may have to use Finder's Go->Go To Folder... and type "~/Library/OctaneRender" - without the quotes - to get to that folder)

~/Library/OctaneRender/otoy_credentials

Hi Beppe,

thanks!
This worked!

Got that tip also in another forum already.
This also solved a problem with the slave-deamon I had a while ago.
I don't know why I did not try this solution for my actual
C4D starting-problem here as well. My fault.

Anyway!

Thanks for your help!
