I haven't really tested OctaneRender yet because I keep getting the "GLEW" message. I've tried in on a couple of pc's with Quadro FX3700 cards.
Anyway, before purchasing, I'd like to know (sorry if these have been asked before):
1. Octane imports obj files. However what happens when my models changes (in host app) and a new obj file is exported. How does one import that new obj file into Octane without loosing the material work done in Octane?
2. Are all 1.x updates free until v2.0. IOW if I pay 99euros in Feb, do I pay for any version released prior to v2.0
3. Will Octane become a fully fledged render with features like instances/proxies, SSS, MPDM, etc., etc.?
4. I know texture baking is last in the list but will it be in v2.x?
5. What will upgrade costs be like from v1.x to v2.0?
6. Will v2.0 price be more than 199euros?
I ask these questions because I'd like to settle down with a rendering solution and stick with it. I started using Maxwell but their rate of development and customer treatment was ridiculous. I then moved to FryRender and I was happy with them however their attitude recently has reminded me a bit of Next Limit. Also, their Arion project is "DIFFERENT" compared to what was promoted (I'm NOT saying Arion is bad). I'm currently using Vray and quite happy with it. Now I see Octane and it seems very exciting (similar to Arion, which based on RC's other products, will be expensive). So why should I buy something expensive like Arion when I can buy Octane. (Radiance, a request: please keep this price always)
I understand the above questions are hard to answer, seeing v1.0 hasn't been released yet but any feedback would help.
Thanks

Hi,
yes to everything except for baking, maybe in the future we add that, live v2.0.
regarding pricing,
yeah 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 etc will be free updates to 1.0.
upgrades from 1.0 to 2.0 will be provided cheaper.
we can't tell you yet how much 2.0 will be as it will depend on the maturity and features we have then.

anyway, where is it to purchase Octane? Couldn't find any link to it. Plus, to those interested to buy Octane now, can it be done through other methods beside credit cards (wire transfer, for example)?
Also, any availability to purchase Octane on Linux now?

So download the beta and try it

Will there be a PayPal option for buying Octane? I don't have a credit card now - but i can't pass up 99 euros for such an awesome software
I really dislike rendering but after trying your demo, rendering images is just plain fun!
