Hi guys.
I'm really sorry if this topic already created somewhere, im a newbie here.

Recently i brough Octane render for Cinema 4d and my mind realy blown up! I used Vray and Standart/Physical render all time, but Octane is awesome. I decided to sell my second computer (I used it for CPU render) and buy some GPU's. So, i've got a questions, i really hope you can help me with it.

I have a i4790k on cheap asus motherboard ASUS H97-PLUS (100$ maybe) with one GTX970 on board. I want to upgrade it to 2 GTX980ti or just add GTX1080 for render and keep my GTX970 for preview. I heard that i need a specific processor/RAM and motherboard to SLI my graphics with 100% of its potential. Is it true? Can i run GTX970-GTX1080 or x2 GTX980ti with my gear, or i need to upgrade my stuff too?

Corsair XMS3, CMX8GX3M1A1600C11 8gbx2 (16gb)

And i want to upgrade my power supply. How much Watt i need for example x2 GTX980ti?
And any recommendations for cooling?
Really thanks for answers!

I discovered that ASUS H97-PLUS does not support SLI.
ASUS ROG MAXIMUS VII RANGER will be a good decision?

Hi, you doesnt need SLI for Octane at all, you have to switch it of if you have it.
It is for gaming.
If you have two PCIe slots with enough room for two cards you are fine.
I have two older GTX cards running on a cheap board without problems.

Cheers, mib

That's right - you are lucky :) If I could recommend -sell 970 and get 2x 1080 - their price shall be higher than 980ti no more than + 200EUR/pcs but you save energy and get better performance in octane (roughly 100% faster than 970+980ti)

smicha, i thought about it. Cant wait to see GTX1080 in action, i hope Octane will be fast optimized for this new GPU. And i want to see it's price. In our country GTX980ti price is ~750$ or 650 eur. I fear that GTX1080 will cost ~1000-1100$ (or two GTX980ti, when prices drops). So im waiting. If GTX1080 really will be like 1.5 GTX980ti, i'll buy it.
