Hey everyone. I recently bought Octane license. I was wondering how long does it take for Otoy to upgrade software to work with new released GPUs? I heard that probably GTX 1080 should be released in June 2016.

Thanks!

We can get Octane working on a new GPU architecture very quickly (ideally at launch or within a week) Optimizing can take a month or two depending what is involved.

Will Otoy provide a specific announcement regarding Octane compatibility with the 1080?

Additionally, will we be assured the same variable card model compatibility (TitanX, 1080, 980 working together) with Octane?

Erm, yes actually. Performance degredation from Fermi to Kepler was HUGE.

I think it's a perfectly reasonable question from Fryderyk and the fact that Otoy often seem kind of nonchalant and tight lipped about new generations of the architecture that their software is based on l find quite strange.

This. I am not buying anything until i see Octane performance results. Still recall how 680 was inferior to 580. Hopefully this is not happening this time around, but i am not taking any risk throwing away so much money for ultimately underwhelming product.

Actually, i am curious about possible performance gains related to new FP16 functionality - whether Octane can take advantage of this or not. Would apprectiate some insight from the devs in coming days.
