Hi all,

I wanted to get a new laptop for travel, but I might want to do some quick renderings on it.
Would it be beneficial for me to get a laptop with a slow gpu, but a good cpu, regarding the speed? Or is the speed of cpus still really slow regarding coding?

I would mostly do scenes without emitters, just hdr.

Greets,

little bump.

To further define: how would regular travel notebook cpu do compared to, say a mobile gtx 860?

My quite new (Januari) laptop has a 920m card.
I did just run the benchmark, a fabulous score : 10.98.
Wouldn't dare to try something related to Octane on it.

Otoy benchmark shows 30 points for a 860m btw.

Well, yes, it's not fast but for me it sometimes does the job.
That's why I'm interested to see if say a 4th Generation Intel® Core™ i7 cpu like an Intel® Core™ i7-4578U Processor would be comparable in terms of speed?
