Hi
We use octane for visualisations in Cultural heritage sector. Here I post few visuals from our proposal for IK Prize 2015 held by Tate Britain. We propose digitally scanning sculptures from Tate’s collection and creating full size replicas using 3D printing technology. These replica artworks would be movable like never before, and would be situated in unusual public locations not normally used for displaying aesthetic objects, offering a new way to encounter works of art. A mobile app providing audio and text commentary, and 3D visualisations, to explain the evolution of sculpture in the twentieth century, would accompany the project.

Hello Seekerfinder
Thanks for your reply. You can find our state of art for this project here in the Pdf document: http://www.artzoom.cz/tate-en
We mainly use Blender for animations and Rhino for 3D object analysis. For postprocesing we use After effect with Magic Bullet plugin.

This project was done with cooperation with few Czech museums and private collectors. We digitized cubist collection from one of the most famous cubist artist Otto Gutfreund. Below few images renderd with octane.

Those babies are expensive. But they seem to be pretty much the leader in the handheld scanner space.

best choice unless you need good geometry. You can alway use photogrammetry.
