I just recently installed today's big new Maya upgrade - Extension 2.

Excited to play around with the new Extension 2 stuff, but right now I'm stuck on getting the Octane Maya plugin to install on it. I redownloaded the Octane Maya plugin installer and ran it, but Octane is not showing up in the plugin loader window in Maya Extension 2. (It's still working fine in Extension 1 though) I noticed that Maya Extension 2 is installed in a separate Program Files folder from Maya Extension 1 (the Extension 1 folder is called Maya2016, Extension 2 folder is called Maya2016.5), so I assume plugins have to be directed to this new Extension 2 folder. I tried manually copying obvious looking Octane plugin files from the Extension 1 bin folder to the Extension 2 folder, which got the Octane plugin to show up on the list of plugins in Extension 2, but it still won't successfully load.

By the way, I'm running Windows 10, and when I installed Maya Extension 2 I opted to "reset my preferences". Any advice from people who have the Octane plugin running on Maya extension 2?

plugins for 2016 won't work with maya 2016 ext2, they need to be recompiled against 2016 ext2 API.

From the section "What's New in API in Autodesk Maya 2016 Extension 2" :

API compatibility
Maya 2016 Extension 2 is not binary compatible with Maya 2016. To obtain the Maya 2016 and Maya 2016 Extension 1 API Guide, see http://www.autodesk.com/me-sdk-docs.
C++ plug-ins that were compiled against Maya 2016 or Maya 2016 Extension 1, including Maya 2016 service pack releases, must be re-compiled against Maya 2016 Extension 2 in order to be recognized by this version of Maya.
In addition, plug-ins compiled against Maya 2016 Extension 2 will either not load or exhibit unpredictable behavior if loaded in Maya 2016, Maya 2016 Extension 1, or any Maya 2016 service pack release.

Thank you very much for the quick info.

So I take it that we have to wait for an update to the plugin then... Anyone know if a recompiled Octane plugin that works with Maya Extension 2 is something we can expect sometime soon?

oh man, I was so hoping this was compatible with Extension 2. When can we expect a version for Maya Extension 2?

Interested in this as well! Playing with MASH isn't nearly as fun without Octane awesomeness. Hope Otoy folks get around to recompiling for 2016.5 soon :)
