So is it possible to do a render and not have to save it as a layered exr? It screws up my colors for my beauty pass. Can't we have an option like saving as a layered tiff?
Thanks

Render layers, non exr?

Hi Cody
You can either save a since layer as PNG or EXR, or you can save multi-layer as EXR. When a plugin saves to multi-layer EXR, there is an option to Tonemap (or not). This is set to False (ie. saving to multi-layer EXR does NOT apply the Tonemapping from the Imager node). It is a trivial change for me to change this to True - so it DOES apply tonemapping when saving to EXR. Not sure if this will effect other users or not....perhaps I can add it as an option to the Preferences.

Thanks for getting back to me Paul. Will there ever be an option that will save each pass as a separate file though? So it saves one Beauty png and one Shadows png for example, per animation frame. A lot of times I do these passes afterwards and it sure would be nice to save the step of having to bring the multilayer into AE and take it out... Where as I could just give the shadows image stack to my compositor..
Thanks Paul, maybe I am missing something...
EDIT: Just checked, there isn't a multilayered tonemapped exr option....

Yes this has to be optional. The standalone has several options for "render passes export" which I'd love to see in the modo plugin.face_off wrote:perhaps I can add it as an option to the Preferences

You can do this at the moment. Select the Shadow pass as the current Viewport display pass and render the animation (remember to change the filename so you don't overwrite you beauty pass). Will there ever be an option that will save each pass as a separate file though? Yes, it's something I would need to add.EDIT: Just checked, there isn't a multilayered tonemapped exr option....
The short-term fix is to add another 2 save options, being "Multi-Layer EXR 32bit Tonemapped" and "Multi-Layer EXR 64bit Tonemapped". Another option could be added "All passes as separate files". However offering the ability to select multiple specific render layers to save would be difficult to implement within the Modo GUI.

I swear I tried to render it with the display but it still only saved the beauty still. I will try again!face_off wrote:You can do this at the moment. Yes, you are right, my apologies for the misleading info. I will put through a quick fix for this over the weekend.
