Hi
We will be able to comment on specifics regarding 3ds Max 2017 once it's release is finalized. When the SDK is in hand, and other work demands are dealt with sufficiently, support for for the latest version shouldn't take very long (based on previous cases). The focus of the implementations for 2017 will be of the upcoming Octane 3 releases. It is unlikely that there will be a 2.x release with 2017 support, as ongoing work for Octane 2 is bug-fixing and all-round stability, as opposed to the addition of new features

Im not sure what the urgency is to get 2017 sorted out before its even released. Really what benefits is 2017 going to give you over 2016, in reality Autodesk add 1 % new functionality and break 1 % of working functionality. Also surely all the plugins you use are not likely to be ready for another few month.

Tend to agree, I don't touch the new version until UR2-3...
Although I'm mainly talking Revit, which doesn't have any downgrading of files for previous versions... still.. feels too much like being a guinea pig using version X.0 or X.1

We will keep you updated through the release posts if there is any complications regarding 2017 support. Aside from anything of that nature arising, you can expect to have support for 3ds Max 2017 within a few days of its commercial release. Anything that may hold that up (unforeseen complications with the API, or heavy workload shifting priorities for Octane development) will be disclosed on the release forums.
Hi,
For the time being, owing to the upcoming release of Octane 3, further development for version 2 (apart from bug and stability fixes, which are still ongoing) will be delayed. Support for 2017 will come promptly after the v3 milestone has been achieved.
