In regards to the Cross-compiler - I realise you had to push the AMD side of things to the side a bit since this is an Nvidia conference, which has left the question open: AMD support in 3.1 or 4.0?
+1
The few news articles published in early March of a cross compiler was pretty big yet Otoy essentially swept it under the rug saying they'd have their own write up soon and this was a pre GTC announcement. Well a month goes by, no further news about it, and little/confusing information is shared during their presentation. I know they had a lot to share in a very short time so I really hope more in depth information will be shared.
Speaking of sharing information/news... Am I the only one that thinks Otoy's PR/marketing falls severely short of what users have come to expect these days? Prior to their GTC post, their latest news post was 6 months ago. Their youtube channel is a dismal collection of RnD snippets, providing no real informative content. I had to continually hit refresh on their twitter page yesterday hoping for information on when/where I could view their presentation, lucky to find a link to a periscope feed posted once the event started. Periscope, really? I'm sure they are all wrapped up in heavy development that updating the world on their progress would just slow them down. I just wish they could be more transparent and offer more learning tools.
More of my peers are converting to octane and turn to me for advise/instructions of how to actually use the renderer. The only real learning material I can point them to is the series from "inlifethrill" which is quickly getting outdated. The manual's documentation is vague and incomplete, often times forcing users to dig deep into forum posts/wait for answers from developers. If you look at companies like Allegorithmic and Quixel (yet not as great), they post in depth feature and benefits videos relevant to the most recent versions, post case studies, have industry leading professionals showing the use of the tools.
EDIT: All that said, I agree with this thread, congrats on announcements of many new and exciting products/services!
