Hi all

I do not have the slowest computer or Graphic Card ...BUT
Is it normal when importing a scene that has allot of models in it like a interior scene....
that Octane gets so slow when moving or rotating......

Can someone give me some pointers how to speed it up

Thanks allot

use directlighting while navigating/editing, instead of pathtracing (which you use for finals), it will not degrade performance when you enter an interior.

It also really helps to have a second gpu for using soley for display.
System 1: EVGA gtx470 1280Mb and MSI gtx470 1280 in Cubix Xpander for Octane, AMD 945, 4Gb Ram
All systems are at stock speeds and settings.

A GT220 costs 40$. Directlighting does help too. Also turn on the "clay mode" (ao only). Lower the output resolution for navigation, let's say 400x300px; get the shot right and raise the resolution.

you can also use the subsampling option (the checkerboard buttons above the render viewport) to speed up navigation/editing.
but i find it strange that with a GTX480 you get slow performance.

I can navigate one of enrico's incredibly complex interiors, full of furniture and books, in directlighting with one GTX480 at a very fluent rate, 25-30 FPS.
maybe there's something wrong with your scene?
are you using a lot of opacity to hide objects or something ?
